About Youth Corps

Mission

Youth Corps is dedicated to bringing together teens from all walks of life; teaching them leadership principles, life skills, employment skills and good citizenship in order to help them discover their full leadership potential.

Vision

To provide the community with productive citizens who are committed, cooperative, courageous, and exhibit a sense of community.

What is Youth Corps?

Each year 70 to 80 young people, ages 14 to 18, are selected through an interview and application process to become a part of Youth Corps, “Leaders in Training”. Youth Corps is a year-long program that includes:

  • Two-Week Leadership Devleopment camp - usually from the middle of June through July 4
  • Assistance in securing temporary employment from the end of the camp until the beginning of school (optional)
  • A 10-month Community Outreach Program in which Cadets have the opportunity to serve the community through volunteerism, as well as participate in various educational and activity-based workshops to continue their development of positive leadership

CADET'S PLEDGE

We Believe In...

Commitment = We believe in ourselves so that we are willing to do whatever is right and whatever it takes to focus on accomplishing our goals. Believing in one’s self is a result of “right” actions; right actions build confidence and self-esteem.

Cooperation = We believe in a group effort that uses and appreciates the strengths and talents of each individual to accomplish a goal. We value and respect diversity

Courage = We believe in the bravery it takes to do the “right” thing - especially under difficult circumstances.

Community = We believe in cultivating a feeling of responsibility to others. We share our abilities and knowledge with the people in our neighborhood, our country and our world.
