Staff Overview
Since its inception, Youth Corps has continued to grow in numbers and programming and new for 2008, the organization has implemented a new position of full-time Development Coordinator to assist the Executive Director with fundraising, in order to continue to add additional programming and provide the opportunity for more young people to be a part of the “Leaders in Training” program. As the “Leaders in Training” program continues to evaluate its programming tools, it is very excited to see the possibilities for the future of the young people of the community through the addition of quality education and activities, which will focus on developing strong leaders and productive citizens for Lubbock and the surrounding communities.
Executive Director
Kris R. Altman, LSW, MA
Ms. Altman came to Youth Corps in February of 2006 where she brought over 24 years of experience working within the social service arena, with her primary emphasis being children and adolescence. Ms. Altman has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work, Master of Arts Degree in Organizational Management, and is a Licensed Social Worker.
Ms. Altman moved to Lubbock after residing in the Dallas area from 1993 to 2004, where she continued her social service work with domestic violence and sexual assault victims. Ms. Altman states, “Youth Corps is absolutely amazing! I have worked with many young people throughout my career and I have never seen a program that works so well. The “Leaders in Training” program truly does change lives!”
Commander
Ismael Zorola
Commander Zorola has worked with the “Leaders in Training” program for three years. He is a retired Company Gunnery Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps.
Sergeant Major
Scott Lynd
Sgt. Major Lynd has worked with the “Leaders in Training” program for three years. He recently returned from Naval active duty in Iraq and is active in the Naval Reserves.
