The last Saturday of the “Leaders in Training” camp, Youth Corps provides a full day for Cadets to participate in a retreat with their Parent/Guardian. This retreat was developed, in order to allow Parents and Cadets an opportunity to work together, sharing experiences and working through issues, in order to strengthen the bond between them and instill ongoing support and encouragement.
The following are activities that take place during the retreat:
- True Colors Workshop for Parents/Guardians
- Opportunity for Cadets to share their experiences and what they have learned
- Cadets and Parents/Guardians participate together on the ROPES Challenge Course
- Parents and Cadets work together find solutions to various obstacles
- Throughout the day, all participants are afforded the opportunity to share what they have learned as they go through the various challenges and problem-solving
The retreat is concluded by a group wrap session, where facilitators review the day’s events and work to facilitate a positive result.
